Today we did all the glamorous things one does when visiting Waco, Texas.
Like riding the super-fast train and rickety carnival rides at Kiddieland,
picking up local produce at the farmers' market,
buying Kolaches,
eating dinner at a Ninfa's Mexican restaurant,
and taking Holden to his first rodeo!
(Well, I think it was technically a cattle roping, but whatevs. We called it a rodeo.) Holden was so excited to get his picture taken with a real cowboy!
(He wore this get-up to dinner, too!)

365.85: Milestone
It was a big night at the McCormicks'. Turner made his very first deposit into a potty! I don't know why, but he has never been able to do more than just sit on the toilet. Until tonight.
If the video didn't contain so much nudity, I would post it so you could see how elated we all were. Turner was screaming, "I did it!" And , "I-cream!" (Because we've been danginling the "ice cream carrot" in front of him for weeks now.

365.82: Turner's Birthday Party
If you got a little panicked from the title, and are frantically searching your calendar to see if Turner's birthday was today and you missed it, you can relax.
His birthday is in January. You didn't miss it.
But for some reason, every time I lay Turner down to sleep these days, he is insistent that when he wakes up there will be a big birthday party waiting for him. So this morning at the store, I snuck a slice of cake with sprinkles on it into our cart and we grabbed some balloons on our way out. And when they woke up from their nap, there was a birthday party waiting! I did, however, forget the candles, so I had to improvise with some over-sized matches.
(Note to moms: when substituting matches for candles, make sure you don't let your two-year-old grab it immediately after blowing it out. The result is a sad little burn, then blister on his sweet little finger.)

365.81: Mexican Treats
Ryan took our family on a cultural field trip tonight to Super Plaza.
It's a Mexican grocery store pretty close to our house. After seeing whole catfish (head and all) and all the unusual bakery goods, the boys each got to choose a soda to bring home. Holden chose pineapple, Turner chose "orange," and Ryan got lemon-lime.
This is them saying "cheers." Please note Turner's face. This is the grimace he makes every time he tried to swallow soda. He says, "too fithy" (too fizzy). And then he keeps on drinkin like a champ.I'm not huge on flavored soda (unless it happens to be flavored like Coke Zero), so I got these treats. They're sugar wafers coated in chocolate, and they are delicious.
