365.66: Holden's Growth Spurt

So Holden has GOT to be going through a growth spurt right now. This kid is eating non-stop. All I've done today is make him food. After I finally sat down at the computer for a little bit, I returned to the kitchen to find these remains.

He has climbed onto the counter, collected everything he needed to make a sandwich, made a whole one, and ate it before I ever saw him!
It is 12:30, and here is what Holden has eaten so far today:
  • string cheese
  • banana
  • glass of milk
  • bowl of cereal
  • scrambled eggs
  • cheese toast
  • whole peanut butter and honey sandwich
  • applesauce
  • almost a whole can of tuna made into tuna salad
  • currently, eggs are being boiled for him to eat next!

365.65: Date Night!

Ryan and I got to go on a date tonight, thanks to the Montgomerys, who watched our boys! (A BIG thanks actually, considering they stayed awake screaming and playing and waking their baby for almost two hours!) Ryan and I went to my new favorite restaurant, Ninfa's, for Mexican. Let me just say that after living in California, I swore that Georgia Mexican was my favorite and all other Mexican food was just weird.
I take it back.
I love this restaurant! It is certainly different--your chips before the meal come with warm salsa (that is shockingly amazing) and a green sauce that I'm pretty sure is guacamole and sour cream mixed together. I can't wait for my Mexican food-loving friends (like the two Becca's!) to come try it and tell me what they think! After dinner, we went to see The A-Team, which I really liked.
Here we are before leaving the house.

365.64: Watermelon and a Sprinkler

So take a wild guess what I've been doing today...
Unpacking boxes!
Same as every other day!
I really am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, though. Tomorrow morning is garbage/recycling pick-up, so I had a goal of having all the boxes out by tonight. And I basically have only one left! (There are a couple others I'm keeping here, filled with garage sale items, etc.)
But since boxes are so not fun to look at pictures of (one was enough), I decided to post some shots I took last night. The Montgomerys came over for some watermelon in the backyard, and brought their sprinkler. It was nearing sunset, so the lighting was really fun to play with. Here's what I came up with.

365.63: Lunchbox

There's not much that Holden loves more than a good lunchbox! He loves to make and pack a lunch. Today he made a sandwich, strawberries, carrots, cheezits, and ice water (because ice water is SO much better than regular old cold water), and headed to the table on the front porch for a picnic.

365.62: Upside-Down Day

On the days that Ryan has to close at work, I always try to do something easy, but kid-friendly, for dinner.

One of our favorites in to have an "upside-down day," where we have breakfast for dinner.

Tonight we made pancakes in fun shapes (heart, cow, pig, and sheep), a tomato and cheese omelet, and fruit salad.

I kid you not, Turner ate six pancakes (full-sized, not silver dollar), two servings of omelet, and probably a cup and a half of fruit! His little belly was HUGE afterward!

Here is the sheep pancake:

And the boys during dinner (please ignore the yet-to-be-unpacked boxes):

365.61: Trophies

These are my trophies today.
I feel a sense of accomplishment and happiness just looking at this pile of broken-down boxes.

365.60: In The Backyard

After church this morning, we headed to play in the backyard while Ryan mowed the grass. The boys and I had the illustrious job of collecting sticks (and there were a LOT of sticks!) and Turner helped with the mowing.

After a bit, Turner needed to take a load off and rest a while.

The backyard is almost completely shaded by a huge tree, which doesn't allow any grass to grow; but in Texas, I'd much rather have a shady backyard than a grassy one! Even in the middle of the day, it is really pleasant in the shade with the breeze blowing. Ryan's ambitious streak continued, and he set about to string up a hammock.
For someone who is scared of heights, it was slightly terrifying for me to watch him climb up this high!

After lots of trial and error, he finally had it up. Here he is, tentatively testing it out for the first time.

And then I tried it, too!

Here is my sweet view from the hammock. (The dude in it is the best part. :))

Let me also add that I crafted some new shorts for myself today! I was pretty proud. I've been wanting a pair of longer jean shorts since last summer. Something like this:
I don't know why it didn't dawn on me to cut off some old jeans earlier! These jeans were from about six years ago, and looked almost like bell-bottoms. But I do like their worn finish, so they worked perfectly! Here's what I came up with:

Tonight we're off to try out a Lifegroup (Antioch small group) for the first time. They are meeting at the park tonight, so it should be fun!
